South Church is a Christian community in the Congregational tradition. In the spirit of Christ, we welcome people of diverse backgrounds, abilities, beliefs, races, and sexual orientation. We value the gifts of young and old.

Together, we seek God’s presence and grace, the amazing power of the Holy Spirit, and the courage to be vulnerable to God’s calling. We respond to our beliefs through worship, music and the arts, study, fellowship and service. Following the example of Jesus Christ, we are committed to stewardship, action, and leadership in our church and the Greater Middletown community, and to the church’s wider mission.

With God’s guidance and our commitment, this vision will become realty.

Vision Statement

South Congregational Church, UCC honors the First Peoples by acknowledging that we are on the traditional land of the Wangunk people in this place known today as Middletown, CT.

As people continually growing in Gods’ grace, we commit to sharing God’s dream of restorative justice, and creating a better future for all people by caring for Mother Earth and acknowledging the colonizing role that Christianity has played in the history of Middletown and for the Wangunk people. This acknowledgement in an intention and only a first step toward creating authentic relationships and taking meaningful steps toward a more just future for all who share this land.
